Hi. My name is J. Evans and I have been taking pictures for a long time but started getting serious with my photography around 2012. At that time, I started using my camera more when I traveled, capturing scenes from the different places I was visiting. As my travel turned more towards wild places, my photography started to evolve and the natural world became my main, but not only subject.
Throughout this journey, I always tried to capture things that caught my interest whether it be a beautiful bird, an interesting mammal, a complex insect, the details in a flower, the scene in a foreign place or anything else that, almost literally, caught my eye.
As I photographed more, I found that movement often captured my attention. Not only movement but the ability to freeze that movement and capture a moment in time. That attraction to motion meant I have spent, and still spend, a lot of time taking pictures of fast, sometimes very small, moving subjects. This could be as big as a train or as small as an insect.
The skills I developed to get the small subjects I apply to get the larger ones; people. I try to not only capture the motion that is happening but also the intensity of the individual involved. These individuals are often just people enjoying their particular sport on their day off. They aren't all sports professionals but the focus and power you see in their expressions is often no different. Capturing that is always a joy.
